Cold Stone is the best!

April 22, 2007 at 7:14 pm (Family, General, Important Events)

My dad’s birthday celebration was great! He loved his ice cream cake, which we got from Cold Stone Creamery. That place seriously has the best ice cream. My dad’s cake was called Cake Batter Confetti — the middle one on the top row on this page. It was delicious! We (the family) also took him out to eat at his choice of restaurant, which ended up being a place that serves homemade country cooking. I stuffed myself way too full with food and cake, but oh, it was wonderful!

When we got home last night, we played a bunch of board games until we were too tired to continue. Then my brother and his girlfriend came over today to give my dad his present from them, and we played even more games. I think it’s safe to say that I’m all partied out right now.

I might not update much this week because I’ll be hanging out with Adam and Nikki, but I’ll try to post something when I get back from the concert on Friday. I’ll definitely be taking my camera, so you can expect pictures!

Jack-Skellington-o’-Lantern

March 21, 2007 at 11:36 am (General, Important Events, Memories)

For Sophie:

That’s from the first year of the Jack Skellington pumpkin tradition. I was about five or six there, and my older brother carved it. We started carving Jack pumpkins for Halloween every year from then on, and I’ve continued the tradition even though my brother has moved out.

A quick update

March 6, 2007 at 7:06 am (Family, General, Important Events)

I had a really good birthday! My parents took me out for lunch and Adam came along, which was nice. I got to spend time with my brother, who I don’t see as often as I’d like anymore. My parents also bought me a chocolate fudge cake and gave me some birthday money to spend. I feel so spoiled! :P I’m still working on the cake. It’s delicious, but I feel like I gain a pound with every bite!

I spent the rest of the day with Adam, who also spoiled me by buying me two video games: Silent Hill 3 for the PS2 and Animal Crossing: Wild World for my DS. I just finished Silent Hill 2, so I’m eager to start playing the next in the series. I became addicted to AC:WW when Adam used to have it, and ever since he traded in both his DS and the game I’ve missed playing it. I’m excited to start over, build my town, and meet all my animal friends!

I plan to go clothes shopping with my birthday money because I’m in desperate need of new things to wear. My favorite pair of jeans has faded and ripped. I spend more money on books and video games than clothes and it’s starting to show. My wardrobe is scant.

A good year ahead

March 3, 2007 at 8:25 pm (General, Important Events)

My birthday is tomorrow, March 4th. I’ll be 19! Adam said that 19 isn’t a very pivotal age, and I have to agree with him. 18 is nice because you’re finally legal, a certified adult. You can buy cigarettes, lottery tickets, and porn (ironically, none of which I’ve bought or plan on buying). Then there’s 20, which is the big 2-0. You’re no longer in the teen years, and you start to feel more like an adult. But 19 is just the in-between year. There’s nothing significant about it. All it means is one more year of teenagedom.

However, I think that this year is going to be at least somewhat special for me, mainly because I have a few exciting events to look forward to in the coming months.

April

25th – My Chemical Romance and Muse concert. This will be my first real rock concert ever, and I’ll be seeing two of my all-time favorite bands perform! I admittedly wasn’t a huge fan of MCR until they released their latest album, The Black Parade. It’s truly amazing, though, and it prompted me to go back and listen to their previous albums and appreciate them more. Then there’s Muse, who I’ve loved for years and who are my favorite band ever, so of course I’m beyond excited to see them!

May

4th – Spider-Man 3. My two most anticipated film releases are happening in May, and Spider-Man 3 is coming first. Spider-Man was the movie that spawned the recent craze of superhero films, and I still think it’s the best one. The thing I’m most excited about? VENOM, of course!

25th – Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies have garnered many fans and rekindled a fascination of pirates in people all over the world, and I’m proud to say that I’m one of those fans/people. I can’t wait to see what happens to Captain Jack Sparrow and the gang, and it’s definitely going to be interesting to see Keith Richards as Jack’s father…

July

21st – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Yes, I’m a fan of the Harry Potter books, and like seemingly most of the rest of the world, I can’t wait for the release of book 7. Who will die? As long as it’s not Harry or Lupin, I’ll be okay! And Snape is not evil. He’s not, I say! It’s a little bittersweet, actually, because this will be the last book in the series. It’ll be the end of the story, with nothing left to look forward to. :/

And who knows? Maybe this year even more new and exciting things will happen to me. Maybe 19 won’t be as boring as it sounds. :P
